The Rite of Committal signals the conclusion of the funeral rite. Those in attendance will follow the deceased to the site of interment (burial), or to the location of where the departed’s urn will rest. The Rite of Committal honors the communion between the Church on earth and the Church in heaven. At this time, loved ones will gather in prayer once more to bid farewell to the departed.
